It is not typical that the first blog post of a creative should regard such a heavy topic, but I want to talk through some big emotions from the past few days, months, and years. If you know me, then it should be no surprise that I struggle with depression, anxiety, self-doubt, and existential dread; however, I have come to find in the past few months that I AM truly happy. I am truly happy when I am surrounded by people who are happy, and who choose to live life for their own happiness and well-being. I am constantly surrounded by friends, family, and couples who are celebrating huge life events; whether that means starting a family, getting married, or achieving a personal goal!
The realization has come from speaking to a few friends who recently shared their wedding video with all of their family and friends, that I have many blessings, many things to be thankful for, and many reasons to be happy. If you ever take a second to look at me while I am listening to an engagement story, an adventure you shared with someone special, or listening to friends and family toast and raise glasses to you on a special day - I am smiling. It’s no secret that I cry at every wedding I attend, and I have cried a few more times while editing the video or photos from the day. I am genuinely a happy person and love being surrounded by others who share their happiness and their love with the people that make them happy.
These past few years have been incredibly difficult for my mental, emotional, and physical health, but I am slowly coming to terms with what makes my life special. What makes me happy is witnessing the happiness that belongs to others, and knowing that I have played even a small role in that happiness - and that cheer - makes me happy! It is a huge weight off my heart when I can honestly say that your happiness makes my life better, even if I didn’t directly make you happy. Knowing that you have smiled at the videos I have made for you and all your loved ones makes me happy. Knowing that you have shared videos, photos, and stories with family that could not be there on your special day makes me happy. Knowing that you will look back on the small - but not meaningless - things I have played a role in, and remember how much your love and happiness have grown, makes me happy! You, your love, your happiness, and the memories I have from being a part of your life make me happy!
Thank you to everyone who has been a part of my life, whether it’s been the last few months or years! Thank you to all of the old friends. Thank you to all of the new friends and memories. Thank you to every couple, every artist, and every person that has believed in my passion, work, and adventure.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
You make me happy!
ENJOY SOME OF THE SMILES I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO CAPTURE IN THE PAST YEAR!
